Volta a Galicia
This past week our team did the Volta a Galicia. It was the tour of the northern provence of spain called Galicia. We went there not knowing what to expect, but we came back with several top ten finishes and two jerseys. It was very successful and everyone raced together as a solid team. You can check out voltagalicia.com if you want more details, or the JBCA website (cyclingcenter.com). But I will leave you with a few pictures, because some of the views were breathtaking, even when your heart-rate was pinned to the ceiling over the climbs with Speedy Gonzalez Spaniard pushing the pace... Behind the king of the mountains Steven Van Voren himself.

No classes it is!
No summer classes for me. I don't think it would have been possible to do that. Next week I go to spain, then on the 16th of June I fly to Pennsylvania for the Innagural Tour of PA (http://www.tourofpa.com/)
Anyways, I am going to leave you with a picture that Evan Hyde took.

Okay
So here it goes...
I flew into Belgium, got pick-pocketed, lost my credit cards, bank card, racing liscence, cash, etc. Then I raced a kermesse, then I raced the hardest three-day stage race there is. Now I am sitting in the kitchen in Hertsberge, Belgium on my computer. My computer has something loose inside of it that I can hear when I shake it. And my phone mysteriously broke two days ago.
Belgium is a money pit.
On a different note, the first day of online classes was yesterday. I have about a week to figure out if I should take classes online this summer. I need a few votes. Please put them in the comment section. The first vote comes from me. I vote no classes. Classes cost money anyways. I'm not made of money. I don't feel like im made of academia either. At least not right now.
More posts to come... unless im bogged down with online classes.

Something related...
Did you know that I eat coral reef sauteed in olive oil and garlic. Yeah. Then I was it down with a nice tall glass of sunscreen.
Here is the clincher: It makes your urine glow in the dark.

In other news. My first race of the year is next week. I'm excited.

Something totally unrelated...

...but in a way, it affects everyone's lives.
Did you know that 6,000 tons of sunscreen washes off of people's skin and goes into the ocean every year. That sounds pretty significant, but I would assume its no big deal in the large scheme of things. Its just a few tons of sunscreen in billions upon billions of gallons of ocean water, right?
Here is the clincher: Four common chemicals that are found in sunscreen activate dormit viruses on coral reefs. That means that you and millions of other people- rubbing in Banana Boat sunscreen and going skinny-dipping - are essentially threating the lives of the coral reefs. This might be a one of many reasons that the reefs are dying off.
My source: http://realitysandwich.com/sunscreen_chemicals_threaten_coral_reefs

Here is the other clincher: No Reefs + circle of life (loss of natural ecosystems) = Death
I'm not particularly a tree hugger, or a reef hugger for that mater, but I just thought I would throw that out there.
